toast and nasi dagang - east coast’s best food

shortalk: i gave the food post a miss last weekend coz i was just too busy with work and have a lot in my mind. actually up to until now, i still have a lot to do/settle before my move to SG end of this month but for now, i just wanna put aside everything and post something delicious.

one of my checklist whenever i visit kota bharu is to visit to this old, quaint coffee shop by the name of White House. this place is pretty famous among the locals and serves the best coffee, toast and a lot of local delights in town. hands down.

picture above is the famous toast serve with butter and homemade kaya. kaya is the closest local term for coconut jam. haha.. i learnt that while in philippines. next to it is nasi dagang, a delicious local delight and best found in the east coast. the rice, in pale white and scattered reddish grain is pretty interesting. not only that itr is cooked in coconut milk to give it a distinct flavour, but some cook add in ginger to enhance the flavour and the overall aroma. one usually accompany the rice with curry tuna but some serve with curry chicken. either one is fine coz this dish is very addictive. ~~screw the calories~~

a simple but satisfying breakfast for sure.
